Event 1 - 5
Mnemonic: LNEVNT, LNEVN2, LNEVN3, LNEVN4, LNEVN5
An event occurs when a predefined event affects a loan. Some examples are when a loan rolls a rate, when a loan payment is late, or when a loan account is opened or closed. Each predefined event has an assigned event number. When a predefined event occurs, the system automatically generates an event record, which is used later by the system to generate a letter to inform the account holder that an event has occurred that affects the loan. When an event letter is generated, it is written in history. Any event can be generated manually by selecting the event, letter number, and date.
When you select an event from this field in the Event Letters, Numbers & Dates field group, the system automatically defaults today's date in the provided Date field. You can change the date to a future date when the system will generate the event record for this account. See Downloading Event Records in the GOLD EventLetters User's Guide for more information.
To set up and generate event letters, you must use CIM GOLD, Microsoft® Word, and GOLD EventLetters. GOLD EventLetters is a user friendly software application that uses your PC to merge a data file of information with pre-defined letter templates. The letters are sent out to your clients when certain events take place, such as ARM adjustments, loan payoffs, expiration of insurance coverage, delinquencies, and more. See the GOLD EventLetters User's Guide in DocsOnWeb for detailed instructions on how to create event letters to be sent to your customers.
You also need Microsoft® Word 97 or higher to compose the letters.
WARNING: Your institution is wholly responsible for the format and wording of event letters. GOLDPoint Systems does not guarantee that sample letters comply with regulatory agencies. |
---|
Three types of fields—Event, Letter, and Date—orchestrate the preparation of event letters. Each of these field types has five available fields, as Event 1, Event 2, Event 3, etc. The Event 1 field corresponds to the Letter and Date fields below it, the Event 2 field corresponds to the Letter and Date fields below it, and so on. All the event fields are file maintainable.
Event letters are printed by event number, then letter number order, and sorted by account number. However, the ARM Letter Report will be printed in loan number order.
Note: More than one event letter can be generated each night per loan. The maximum amount of event letters available is 255. |

Click the list icon and select the event from the list that displays to apply that event to this account.
For a list of all available event letters for the Loan system, see the Loan Event Description topic in the GOLD EventLetters User's Guide in DocsOnWeb. Before you add any event letters in the step above, you should first review which events are available.
Note: For events 23 (Delinquency Event) and 24 (Specialty Request Letter), also see the UFC17 and UFC34 field help. |

For the Letter number fields, click the list icon and select the letter number you want to use with this event. Letter numbers are set up using the Loans > System Setup Screens, click the list icon , and select Event Letter Descriptions from the list that appears. More than one letter can be set up for each event. For example, for the Specialty Request Letter (event 24), you could have a letter generate if a payoff is past due; if the insurance is due on the collateral of the loan; if you are missing the title for the collateral connected to the loan; or for any other reason you need to send a letter to this customer.
When you create your event letter in Microsoft® Word®, you may want to name the Word file with a similar name to this event letter. See Tying Data Source Files into Letters Using Word 2010 in the GOLD EventLetters User's Guide in DocsOnWeb for more information.
Note About Late Notices
You can create late notices using event numbers 44, 45, 46, but we recommend you use the Notice Type fields on the Account Detail screen > Late/NSF tab (see the Notice Type field description for more information). However, you can set up late notice records to run by using the Event, Letter, and Date fields on this screen, but if you do use this screen to set them up, you must enter a Letter number. The system does not recognize blank or 0 letters for late charge notices.
Additionally, if any of the following Hold Codes are on the loan, the late notice record will not be created:
•1 (foreclosure completed) •2 (charge-off) •4 (bankruptcy Chapter 7, 11, or 12) •5 (bankruptcy Chapter 13) •6 (Deed in lieu of foreclosure) •7 (legal hold), but only if accompanied by a charge-off •9 (legal hold) •27 (loan in default) •90 (judgment awarded), but only if accompanied by a charge-off •92 (voluntary surrender) •93 (repossession by grantor)
Additionally, loans with a General Category of 80 (charge-offs, and above or loans with an Origination Code of 3, 15, or 16 (loans purchased/serviced by others) will not create letters. |
