For any account type, a zero (0) displayed  in this field means that either the account has no money or a hold code with an override attached (overrides can be maintained on the Customer Relationship Management > Special Instructions screen). An asterisk (*) will appear to the right of the value in this field, and a message will appear just below this field indicating why the available amount is zero. Only one error can be shown on this screen. If multiple errors are present, no asterisk will appear.

If the customer account needs to allow overdrafting to occur at the teller window, ATM, or through your institution's banking website, all hold codes on the account must be either MOV (message override) or NOV (no override) . Override levels are set up on the Deposits > Definitions > Hold Code Definitions screen.

If "D-Deposit Account" is selected in the Account Type field, this field contains the amount currently available in the designated savings or checking account. If the overdraft account is a savings account, this amount is reduced by .01 so that overdrafting can never take the savings account to zero (0) and close the account.

If "L-Loan Account" is selected in the Account Type field, this field contains the line-of-credit limit minus the principal balance for revolving LOCs and the line-of-credit limit minus the credit used for non-revolving LOCs.

If "G-General Ledger Account" is selected in the Account Type field, no amount is displayed in this field because General Ledger transfers have no limit.

If a credit card is tied to the overdraft account, a zero (0) is displayed in this field because the balance and available credit are unknown.

This is a calculated field. The value of this field is determined by adding the value in the Payable Balance field below, the value in the Negative Limit field, and any overdraft credit from available overdraft accounts, then subtracting any secured loan amounts from available loan accounts:

Determining the value of either overdraft or secured loans depends on whether the loan in question is non-revolving or revolving:

•For overdrafting using a non-revolving loan, the amount used in the above equation to calculate the value of this field is the line of credit minus the amount of credit used.

•For overdrafting using a revolving loan, the amount used in the above equation to calculate the value of this field is the credit limit minus the loan balance.

•If the secured loan is a non-revolving loan, the amount used in the above equation to calculate the value of this field is the credit limit divided by the pledged percent. For example, if the credit limit is $90,000.00 and the pledged percent is 90%, the amount that must be held in the deposit account is $100,000.00 ($90,000.00 / .90 = $100,000.00).

•If the secured loan is a revolving loan, the amount used in the above equation to calculate the value of this field is the loan balance divided by the percent pledged. For example, if the loan balance is $89,955.25 and the pledged percent is 90%, the amount that must be held in the deposit account to cover the loan is $99,950.28 ($89,955.25 / .90 = $99,950.28).

Overdraft features can be adjusted for individual customer accounts on the Deposits > Account Information > Overdraft & Secured Loans screen. In order to use the overdraft function on a customer account, the Overdraft field must be marked.

The value in the Current Balance field above

-  The value in the Minimum Balance field (on the Deposits > Account Information > Additional Fields screen)

-  The value in the Uncollected Funds (UCF) field

-  The value in the Monetary field

- The value in the Over The Counter field (if the customer account uses the Checking feature)

= Payable Balance
