Check Kiting Suspect Report (FPSDR095)

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page  Print this Topic

Availability

This report must be run daily in the afterhours and can only be set up one time per institution.

Purpose

The Check Kiting Suspect Report will list all checking accounts that meet kiting activity criteria, based on the period used in the report setup. Because kiting usually occurs in a short period of time, the default number of days to compare account activity is 15 days. If you want to compare transactions for a different period, it can be changed to meet your requirements.

The report has no totals, but will sort and break by office. If you do not want to have a particular account on the report that inadvertently meets the kiting criteria, fill in the Ignore Kiting Date field (DMKTDT) on the Deposits > Account Information > Additional Fields screen in CIM GOLD with a valid date.

Suggested values are associated with most sections of the report. Once the limit is met, the account will appear on the report for that section. The suggested values are listed at the end of this document. You can specify other values, as needed by your institution.

A = # of draws on UCF/cycle; suggested setting = 4

B = # of days negative; suggested setting = 3

C = # of times negative/cycle; suggested setting = 3

D = ratio of average balance vs. cycle to date deposits (average balance / number of deposits); suggested setting ≤ 010 (0.10)

E = ratio of average balance vs. average uncollected funds (average balance / average uncollected funds); suggested setting ≤ 010 (0.10)

F = display transactions over amount for that run date; suggested setting = 1000000 ($10,000.00)

G = number of days to read through history; suggested setting = 015

H = low ratio of number of deposits vs. number of checks. (Ratio means how many deposits were made to each check cleared. For example, 10 deposits to 2 checks will be a 5 to 1 ratio, 10/2 = 5). If the number of deposits is less than 8, OR this data is blank, this ratio will not appear on the report. Any account with a ratio greater than or equal to the low ratio will be printed. You can choose any ratio from 1-99.

I = high ratio of number of checks vs. number of deposits (number of checks / number of deposits). If the number of deposits is less than 8, OR this data is blank, this ratio will not appear on the report. For a ratio range to work, H and I must both be set up. Neither H nor I have default numbers, but their ranges can be from 01 to 99. If you don’t want to see a range, only enter information in H.

Note

Positions 20-21 are for the lower ratio. For example: 10 deposits and 5 checks = 2 (ratio 2:1). In the report setup, you should enter "02" in positions 20-21.

Positions 22-23 are for the higher ratio. For example: 30 deposits and 5 checks = 6 (ratio 6:1). In the report setup, you should enter "06" in positions 22-23.
